End of Study: Blood Work

December 14th, 2009 by admin

So the 12 Week CrossFit study is officially over. I’m going to take a nice, long vacation in Florida with my wife and son.

Before I go, however, here are the results of my blood work:

Starting Levels:

Total Cholesterol: 126

HDL: 28

LDL: Unavailable, most likely due to it being low.

Cholesterol:HDL Ratio: 4.6

Glucose: 89

Ending Levels:

Total Cholesterol: 128

HDL: 38

LDL: 79

Glucose: 87

Ok, so what the hell does all that mean? Well, The American Heart Association explains it a whole lot better than me. The short short version is that Total Cholesterol should be less than 200, HDL above 40, LDL below 100, and TC/HDL Ratio should be less than 5. Finally, the Fasting Glucose level should be between 70-100.

Ok, so that’s it. I’ll be gathering up more data and hopefully writing a piece for the CrossFit Journal when I return from leave.
